BEFORE YOU START MAKE SURE YOU HAVE
  • Backup of your important DATA
  • Floppy diskette containing DOS drivers for CD-ROM drive
  • Installation disks or CDs for all other hardware
  • Manual for the motherboard
  • CD ROM for the OS with the product code
  • If the CD is an upgrade, you'll need the qualifying product
  • BOOTABLE DOS diskette or Windows-95 or 98 Emergency Startup disk
  • Users of Windows NT4 or 2000 will need one of the following -- a BIOS that supports booting from the CDROM, the 3 (NT4) or 4 (Windows-2000) boot disks OR that another OS be installed first.
  • Knowledge of how to open a PC, remove and replace peripheral cards
  • Click here if you've previously tried to install Windows and have had problems
    PLEASE NOTE: THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR OWNERS OF CLONE PCS ONLY, i.e. those with motherboards containing an Award, AMI (American Megatrends) or Phoenix BIOS. Those with proprietary machines (e.g. Dell, Toshiba, Compaq, etc) should FIRST consult with their manufacturer before attempting an OS reinstall.
